The car is finished in Smoke Silver metallic, which is in excellent order with no corrosion at all. The car was originally supplied in Germany but since 1995 has spent most of its time in Italy which is why there is no corrosion. There are no dents bumps or scrapes, the only marks are a couple of stone chips on the bonnet.
The 3 litre straight six performs well producing 185bhp and yet still retuning, due to its under stressed nature, good fuel consumption. Mated to the automatic gearbox, ( the car has the optional limited slip differential and traction control fitted), with both sports and economy setting it makes for a relaxing cruiser.
Our car has excellent oil pressure and is responsive, the auto gearbox works perfectly, the changes are smooth and as the car has just been serviced need nothing.
The interior of this car was in truly exceptional condition but I preferred brown leather - which was an original but rare option. I have recently had completed to a very high standard at a cost of £1600. When combined with the lambs wool overugs, the car looks how a Gentleman's coupe should be!
The car is totally as it left the factory, the car is equipped with climate controlled AIR CONDITIONING which has just been serviced and recharged, the original Becker Radio Cassette, (with its original Code Card) is still present but we also have a Blaupunkt Radio CD which we can fit. The Mercedes Benz remote alarm with central locking, the immobiliser, the electric antenna, the electric tilt & slide roof, the 'butler' arms, the electric windows and mirror all work perfectly. The Mercedes Coupe is fitted with LHD lights and the original KPH dashboard.
The braking system operates 100% correctly. The chassis on this car is totally free of corrosion - I have inspected all of the usual problem areas, like the front wings, the rear panel, the sills, under the arches, under the full flap but there is no corrosion to report.
The W124 Series cars are known as being 'hewn from Granite' they feel solid and this transmits to how they drive - solid, stable and safe.
This Mercedes 300CE is totally standard, (with the exception of the polished wheels), and has not been 'messed' with. I have personally driven some 300km in the car and can tell you she drives superbly and like a much newer vehicle - a truly usable classic.
We have included a brand new set of genuine lambswool moulton overlays which have been custom made to match the car with a LHD leather heel pad and are worth £595.
Stylish cars are ageless and style does not come much cheaper than this! The plate F44 OWL, which is included in the sale, has been valued by a number plate dealer at £500.
